Publishing Program
(download PDF version)
Calvary Publishing (CP) has created a program for new or current customers which will allow them to market their books into a wider circulation, thus allowing more potential customers to purchase their book. We will be working closely with Local Church Bible Publishers (LCBP), another ministry of Parker Memorial Baptist Church, which has an established reputation of providing high-quality King James Bibles and helpful Baptist materials. This program is made available to authors whose books have been printed by CP and whose covers have been exclusively designed by CP’s professional design department.
How it works Once the author chooses to allow CP to help market the book, a contract will be arranged by CP describing the publishing fee, outlining the avenues of marketing, and the amount of the author’s profit from sales. This contract can be canceled at anytime by either party (CP or the author). In such cases, the author has the option to either allow CP to sell the remaining books or to purchase the books from CP at the cost of printing.
Publishing fee Once the contract is signed by the author, it will be turned into CP along with the one-time publishing fee. A publishing fee of $150 will enable CP to print $100 worth of the author’s book. The amount of books printed, totaling $100, will be determined by printing cost the author initially pays per book. This fee is not required at the time a book is initially printed. CP understands that sometimes it may be too large of investment at one time. Any time after the author’s book is printed and paid for, the publishing fee can be paid and the publishing program can begin.
The remaining $50 of the publishing fee covers the marketing efforts put forth by CP in the following areas:
Avenues of marketing
- The book will be added to the CP online bookstore
A picture of the book, along with a book description will be placed in this section of the CP web site. Author contact information will also be made available at the author’s request. Here, customers will be able to purchase your book by a variety of methods: Visa, Master Card, Discover, AMEX, and PayPal. - The book will be added to the LCBP online bookstore

The book will be added to the list of great Baptist resources and King James Bibles. This order form is made available to churches, Bible colleges, bookstores, evangelists, pastors, and thousands of individuals all around the country.
- The book will be placed in the LCBP bookstore located in Lansing, Michigan
The book will be stocked in the bookstore which is open to the public. - The book will be added to the CP catalog
A picture of the book, along with a book description will be placed in this catalog. It will feature all books marketed by CP and will be distributed to churches, Bible colleges, bookstores, evangelists, pastors, and thousands of individuals all around the country.
In each of these marketing avenues, people will be given the opportunity to purchase the author’s book on a volume discount. The more copies purchased, the greater the discount is received.
Author’s profits Once the initial $100 worth of books is sold, CP will print more copies as needed and will assume all of the printing costs. In doing so, CP actually purchases the newly printed books from the author at the following amounts:
| Book length (pages) | Price per book the author |
| 50 or less | $0.25 each |
| 51-100 | $0.50 each |
| 101-150 | $0.75 each |
| 151-200 | $1.00 each |
| 201-250 | $1.25 each |
| 251 and more | $1.50 each |
Note: These profits are non-negotiable because they allow a profit margin for CP to reprint the author’s books even when they are sold at larger volume (25 and up) discounts of 40% off retail.
The author will always be contacted and paid once CP needs to print more books. CP will not drop ship orders. Therefore, either the author will sell and ship the books or may direct customers to either LCBP or CP web sites for purchasing.
CP believes this nominal, one-time publishing fee of $150 is very reasonable considering all the benefits the author will receive compared to modern-day marketing costs, such as radio time, newspaper ads, mailers, and internet marketing.
This program developed by CP is designed to help the author’s book receive more exposure. CP recommends that the author put forth as much effort as possible to also market and sell the books. For the books to sell well, CP and LCBP should not be the only sources in which the book can be sold.
Every book CP sells will be available on a volume discount basis. Customers (individuals, churches, or bookstores) will receive a greater discount the more books that are purchased. The volume discounts are as follows:
1-9 approx. 20% off retail
10-24 approx. 30% off retail
25 and up approx. 40% off retail
Note: The retail price will be based on the number of pages and the binding method of the book. Retail will be approximately four to five times the print cost of each book.
Example #1 An author has a book printed through CP. The author orders 200 books (100 pages) at $2.00 each. After the contract is signed and the $150 publishing fee is paid, CP prints 100 copies of the book in addition to the 200 copies the author has. While the author markets the book and makes a profit on each book sold, CP is also assisting the author by marketing and selling the additional 100 copies.
After selling through the 100 books CP had in its stock, it will print 100 more. CP will assume all the cost of printing, and purchase them from the author at the rate of $0.50 each book. CP sends the author a check for $50.
Note: If CP markets a book that costs $2.00 to print, CP pays the author $0.50, so thus the final cost for CP is $2.50. The retail of the book is $8.00 to $10.00, and CP will sell them as follows:
Retail $8.00
1-9 $6.50 20% off retail
10-24 $5.50 30% off retail
25 and up $5.00 40% off retail
Because CP offers the books at a volume discount, the author’s profits cannot be changed, as the profit margin decreases as larger quantities are sold. CP requires the additional profits to produce more of the author’s books.
After CP prints and sells 300 books and sending you the profits, the author has made back the original investment of $150. From this point on, all that is made from CP selling the author’s book is profit. At the same time, CP is getting the book into the public, helping more people, and benefiting the cause of Christ through the publishing of Godly materials.
This information is only valid for books that the author is going to print with CP or that have already printed through CP. The $150 publishing fee is for each book title, and is only paid once per book to start the publishing process.
